My philosophy regarding psychotherapy is an eclectic foundation of intervention. It provides the patient with the opportunity to deal with emotional conflict while adapting to internal and external stressors. This enhances the ability to cope with intrapsychic conflict throughout the life span development. Psychotherapy is designed to produce a mental or emotional response through suggestion, reeducation, reassurance, and support. This sometimes changes the personality. It places the patient in control with the ability to question any therapeutic practice and ultimately to terminate their treatment at any time. I will be supportive of this decision and reserve the right to terminate my involvement at my initiative as well. Ideally, this will be a joint decision.
